IQUIQUE
If you are heading to Iquique make sure you contact Margaret Nuņez (margnunez@yahoo.com) with regard to travel tours in the area. She has been working in the area for about 6 years, is VERY informative and is TOTALLY bilingual. See my article about Iquique in the May 2008 Newsletter for more information.

MONTE VERDE CABANAS

We stayed at these wonderful cabanas over the week of Christmas and I highly recommend them, especially to families, although they do have accommodation for both families and couples in the cabanas, as well as a B&B hotel as part of the complex.

Situated up on the hill overlooking Lake Villarica and 5 kms out of town, they have a pool and large open grassed area, as well as a lovely little soccer field away from the accommodation, so that the noise of the game doesn't disturb others.

The cabana we stayed in was 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom, with a kitchen (clean and well equipped), dining and living area. As usual here, there was no laundry and the kitchen was VERY small, so you need to keep the meals simple! There was a great terrace out the front overlooking the grassed hill and lake, and a BBQ on each terrace. A pot belly stove keeps the place warm and it is cleaned and prepared each day so that it is ready for use, when required.

There is an English speaker available at reception at times. Emailing your request is probably best if you need to use English.

We will be going back!
