Abrazemos un Amigo Limache
This AIDS
awareness organization offers educational seminars and
training about HIV and AIDS. They have won several awards
in their 3 years of existence and have reached thousands
with their message of prevention and education. We
purchased a laptop computer and software to enable them to
reach a wider geographic region with their presentations.
Project cost: $450.000
Colegio Aspaut V Viņa del Mar
Located in the
coastal city of Viņa del Mar, this school provides
education for autistic children. The CAC purchased
educational games, books, toys and equipment to help
improve motor skills and speech and independent
functioning. Project cost: $2.500.000
Corporacion Casa de Acogida Grada Providencia
This is a
live-in facility for babies who have been abandoned or come
from at-risk homes with alcohol and drug abuse. There are
currently 30 children living at the hogar. We provided
funds to renovate the kitchen to maintain standards for
Sename funding and purchased new cribs, apnea monitors and
kitchen appliances. Project cost: $.2.400.000
Corporacion para Ciegos Providencia
This
organization provides a library of more than 5,000 books on
tape for the blind and sight-impaired in Santiago. They
also offer computer and English classes as well as
providing a community center for the blind. The CAC
purchased 10 new computers and a digital recorder to enable
them to better serve their community. Project cost:
$4.100.000
Fundacion de Ayuda al Nino Casa de la Sagrada Familia Nunoa
This
‘fundacion’ provides a home environment for
children with cancer and their parents, who come from all
over Chile to undergo cancer treatment in Santiago. The CAC
was able to purchase computers and televisions to allow the
children to keep up with their schoolwork while away from
home and stay in touch with other family members. Project
cost: $1.700.000
Fundacion Mi Casa-Residencia Hamburgo Nunca
This residential
facility provides a safe haven for 23 boys, placed by the
Chilean Judicial system. Most come from abused homes or
have been abandoned. CAC purchased several computers,
tables, chairs and educational books to encourage
educational excellence. Project cost:
$3.800.000
Villa Los Aromos Lo Barnechea
This home for
the elderly is located in downtown Lo Barnechea and
provides a safe living environment for 15 residents. In
additon, the home serves as a community senior center. The
CAC paid to upgrade their electrical system to allow for
the use of additional heaters and have the roof repaired.
